“We like terroir, we don’t like too much oak. These are elegant mountain wines” So says the winemaker at Kellerei Kurtatsch (or Cantina Cortaccia, in Italian), and we could not agree more. This sophisticated Pinot Grigio is made entirely from fruit grown on the slopes of the mountains surrounding the village of Kurtatsch; indeed, half of the vines sit above 400m. The nose is very pretty, with aromas of white flowers and white peach. The palate is singingly fresh, recalling ripe lemons and peaches, with notes of almonds, spices, sea salt and citrus. Rich but elegant, it has a generous, creamy texture, and beautiful power and balance. 14%.
