“We like terroir, we don’t like too much oak. These are elegant mountain wines” So says the winemaker at Kellerei Kurtatsch (or Cantina Cortaccia, in Italian), and we could not agree more. The grapes from which this special cuvee of Pinot Bianco are made come from vines surrounding the tiny hamlet of Hofstatt, which sits at 1680ft, on a gentle slope. This wine spends time maturing on fine lees in large, old barrels, giving a delightful creamy texture and wonderful depth of flavour.
