Clos des Monsnières is a south-west facing, steeply sloping vineyard on the top of the Montagne de Beaune. There is very little top-soil, the vines’ roots having to pierce directly into the limestone. The combination of height, exposure and rock makes it impossible for Pinot Noir to grow successfully here, but it is perfect for Chardonnay. Bright lemon-green colour, this is a full, elegant wine with a delicate, fine-boned structure. Very clean to finish, this will be a superb wine to serve at the dinner table (for drinking 2015-2017+).
