60% of this wine is from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (one of the highest proportions ever seen at this property), the balance being 35% Merlot, with 5% Petit Verdot. Only 65% of the estate’s production has made it into the Grand Vin, which is presently ageing in 40% new barrels, with 30% each in barrels which have held one, or two harvests. In colour, this is a beautiful, deep-purple-ruby, the nose being ripe, open and perfumed. Palate is medium bodied, with magnificent, charmingly dense fruitiness and lovely length. This has harmony, fine tannins and impressive concentration. The price is £9/case lower than our opening price for the 2012, and is superb value (for drinking 2019-2028+).
