Ownership and wine-making philosophy are the same here as at Ch. Mouton-Rothschild, and this property has greatly benefitted from the family links. Since 2006, all grapes have been carefully brought by gravity into the vats – which means that the tannin extractions are very gentle, being initiated not by automatic, mechanical means, but solely after tasting and careful assessment. Tasted three times in April, including once alongside 10 other top, Classed Growth Pauillacs, this is an exceptional success in 2015. The assemblage consists of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
In colour, this is rich, medium-deep purple, with freshly open, red and black fruit aromas which are already pungent. The palate is full-structured and well-rounded, with dense, well-sustained fruitiness, rich body, classic Cabernet intensity, gentle tannins and lovely length (for drinking 2021-2038+).
