The sister-property of Château Calon-Ségur, this has had new owners since 2012. The benefits of their commitment and investment in a new winery are plain to see in this lovely wine. The highly-talented Vincent Millet (whose training included time at Ch. Margaux) remains the wine-maker, this year assembling 4% Petit Verdot with the 28% Merlot and 68% Cabernet Sauvignon which are traditional here. The wine is ageing in 60% new barrels. In colour, this is deep purple with very fresh, red fruits aromas. The palate shows lovely balance between intense fruit, medium alcohol (13°7), well-rounded body and gentle, lively tannins. The finish is vivacious and persistent. Superb value, this will make delicious drinking from 2019, and over the following 5-8+ years.
