This is an absolutely brilliant wine in 2010. Tasted blind amongst ten Pauillac classed growths at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux En Primeur tastings, it stood head-and-shoulders above them all. The assemblage this year is Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Merlot 24%, Cabernet Franc 7%, Petit Verdot 3%. The Cabernet Francs were particularly dense, we learnt, and they were so good, that they all went into the Grand Vin. The colour is deep, solid purple, the nose being open, with complex, lovely, black fruits fragrance. Palate is full-bodied, rich and fresh, with a high level of beautiful tannins, combined with the silkiest of textures, and a creamy, magical curl of flavours on the very long finish. This wine reminds us today of the 1982, which is still utterly delicious. The 2010 will be legendary, and will give many decades of thrilling enjoyment (for drinking 2018-2040+).
