The Burle family of Domaine Font Sarade has well-established Vacqueyras roots, the domaine now being run by father and daugther team, Bernard and Claire. Located to the north of the Vacqueyras appellation, their Hauts de la Ponche cuvée comes from Grenache (50%), Syrah (25%) and Mourvedre (25%) vines growing at the top of the “La Ponche” plateau, in clay-limestone soils. The grapes were fully destemmed before fermentation and maturation in concrete tanks. This is the first time in over 10 years that we have listed a Vacqueyras, this 2015 having completely charmed us. Rustic this is not: here, richness of body combines with freshness and complex, spiced raspberry perfume to give a beautiful, captivating wine. Intensely concentrated and with a good frame, this will give enormous pleasure when young and also in the future (drink 2017-2020+).
