The flagship wine from Two Paddocks, this organically grown barrel selection comes from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from across the estate`s four Central Otago vineyards (The Fusilier – Bannockburn; The Last Chance – Earnscleugh; The Red Bank – Earnscleugh; The First Paddock – Gibbston). 25% whole bunches went into the fermentation vats, contributing spice, structure and silky texture to the wine. It was subsequently aged for 11 months in French oak barriques, of which 25% were new. This 2015 is a real success – pale ruby colour, aromas are beautiful and pure, full of strawberries and raspberries and with hints of floral aromatics. The palate is full, generous and intense. Red and darker berry flavours intermingle with spice; the finish is long, elegant and with the gentlest of fine tannins. A classic, beautiful Central Otago Pinot – we recommend drinking this from 2017-2021+.
