This is the second vintage to have benefited from Faiveley’s up-grading of their winery in Mercurey. The wines now ferment in smaller vats, with more precise temperature control. A modest, judicious proportion of new oak was chosen for its barrel-ageing, and the wine bottled in November 2016. This First Growth vineyard regularly gives wines of impressive structure, with excellent potential for ageing. Medium deep, purple-ruby in colour, the wine shows fully-ripened Pinot Noir aromas of great charm. Palate is full-bodied, with fleshy texture, well knit, fine tannins, great follow-through and elegant length. This is superb value (for drinking 2018-2030+).
