This rarely seen Premier Cru is located south of Gevrey, touching the Route des Grands Crus, as it snakes past Mazis-Chambertin. The soil is rich in clay, and the vines need careful management to restrict their yield, sometimes with summerpruning. In colour, this is medium-deep purple-red, with spice and smokiness mingling with fresh Pinot aromas, on the nose. This is a wine of character, with plump fruit showing on the palate, well-rounded texture and refreshing length (for drinking 2018-2025+).
