A new discovery with the 2012 vintage, where we happily meet up again with talented, Moueix-trained wine-maker Yannick Reyrel (previously he was at Pomerol’s Ch Vray Croix de Gay, from 2001). He was hired by this property in late 2012, and is now responsible for the 2012 wine’s tending and bottling. 80% Merlot, with 10% each of the two Cabernets, make up the blend. No herbicides are used on the property, where traditional ploughing takes place. This is not a wine of great power or structure, but is remarkable for its ebullient, suave fruitiness, for its superbly ripe, fresh aromas, and for its luscious, smooth aftertaste. Here is a Merlot-rich wine which may be bought for spectacular, immediate pleasures (for drinking 2015-2018+).
