The average age of the vineyards at Puy-Blanquet is an impressive 40 years, planted 80% with Merlot, the balance Cabernet Franc. This 2011 is starting to open up beautifully. Colour is mid purple-red, with open, fresh aromas recalling cherry, raspberry and hints of herbal spice. Medium bodied, there is good concentration here, with well-balanced tannins and impressive aftertaste. A charming wine – for immediate drinking.
