70% Merlot grapes go into this wine, with 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec, the average age of the vineyards being 35-40 years. Two properties have been combined here, Clos René and this one, both today under the management of the well-respected Pomerol figure Jean-Marie Garde. “We had exceptional, extraordinary weather conditions,” he says. Our oceanic weather, combined with cool nights, has helped maintain this very pretty freshness.” In colour, this is deep purple-red, the aromas being open, very ripe and freshly complex. The wine is full bodied, with excellent mid-palate, creamy texture and lovely aftertaste (for drinking 2015-2025+).
