Perched on the limestone heights of Saint-Emilion, with views across to Ch Ausone, this little-known jewel of a property is owned by the d`Arfeuille family (who for many years owned Ch la Pointe, in Pomerol). There are less than 20 acres, the vines averaging 30 years of age, being 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. The 2008 is an impressive rich ruby-garnet colour, being floral and fresh, with an opulent spicy, meaty, ripe black fruit character. This is a full, flattering mouthful, with lush, silky textures, layered depths of richness and a long, fine finish. At eight years old, this 2008 has hit perfect maturity for drinking now and over the following four to five years.
