Assembled 62% from Pinot Noir with 38% Chardonnay, this beautiful 2005 vintage Charles was aged for 10 years, deep in the House’s 2000-year-old cellars, before release. With persistent, fine bubbles, the nose evokes white flowers, then acacia honey and fragrant lemon and dried fruits. Long ageing has concentrated the flavours, the palate being taut and tightly woven, with a satin-like texture and a finish that is full of finesse. This finely structured, intricate champagne is superb now, and will reward further bottle ageing (drink 2017-2020+).
